Guyana Geology and Mines Commission has issued a reconnaissance permit dated June 19, 1996, to BHP covering three areas having an aggregate of approximately 2,500,000 acres in Guyana (the "Project Area"). The Project Area is described in Exhibit B and is more commonly referred to as the Guyana Reconnaissance Project.
