Transitional Work definition

Transitional Work is defined as a temporary job assignment created for the purpose of this provision or a regular job assignment that has been modified to eliminate or significantly limit one or more of its essential functions temporarily for the purpose of this provision.
Transitional Work means temporary work with the employer at injury that is not the worker's full-duty regular work and is assigned because the worker cannot perform full-duty regular work.
Transitional Work means temporary work with the employer-at-injury which is not the worker's full duty regular work and is assigned because the worker cannot perform full duty regular work. Transitional work must be within the worker's injury-caused limitations and may be created through modification of the worker’s regular work, job restructuring, assistive devices, worksite modification(s), reduced hours, or reassignment to another job. Transitional work must be within the employer’s course and scope of trade or profession, unless the work is “skills building.”

Examples of Transitional Work in a sentence

  • If the employee refuses to participate in the Transitional Work Program while receiving salary continuation or OIL, the salary continuation or OIL benefit will end and the Employer can seek repayment or substitution of paid leave from the employee for any OIL or salary continuation received during the time the employee was capable of participating in the program.

  • The City will provide Transitional Work within the injured employee’s department providing such work is available.

  • If such evidence is provided, the City may offer additional periods of Transitional Work for up to three years from the initial date of injury.

  • In order to be eligible for assignment to Transitional Work, an employee (1) must have sustained an injury arising out of and in the course of employment with the City of Portland; (2) must have the approval of a treating physician; and (3) must sign a Transitional Work Agreement.

  • If, during the course of the Transitional Work, it becomes evident to the City that the injured worker probably will not be able to return to Regular Work within three (3) years of the date of injury, the Transitional Work may be terminated.

  • Participation in the Transitional Work Program will be limited to a period of three (3) years after the date of initial injury.

  • All employees accessing the Transitional Work Program will be informed of such committee and their right to union representation at any such meetings to discuss their Return to Work Program, by the employer, prior to the employer meeting with them at the first Return to Work/Transitional Work meeting.

  • If at the end of the ninety (90) day period, the employee has not been released to Regular Work, the employee will no longer be eligible for Transitional Work unless further medical evidence is presented that permits the City to believe that, with reasonable further periods of Transitional Work, the employee will probably be able to return to Regular Work.

  • An employee who meets the eligibility requirements in this policy will be assigned to the next available Transitional Work assignment and will be permitted to work up to 90 days in that assignment.

  • Employees unable to perform their normal job duties due to a non work-related injury or illness may be eligible to participate in the Transitional Work Program at the discretion of management.


More Definitions of Transitional Work

Transitional Work. As defined in Section 7.5(b).
Transitional Work means gradual return to regular duties where the employee performs duties of their regular job, with an increase in hours and/or duties over a period of time until a complete return is reached.
Transitional Work is defined as an interim step in the physical recovery of a Bargaining Unit Member who is temporarily disabled from performing all the duties of their regularly assigned positions due to a work-related or non-work-related injury, condition, or illness. Transitional work uses early return-to-work strategies designed to use job tasks or a combination of tasks and functions that an individual with work restrictions may safely perform. i. The Bargaining Unit Member is medically released to perform the full range of duties of the Bargaining Unit Member's regular position; ii. The Transitional Work assignment is discontinued at the request of the attending physician; iii. The Bargaining Unit Member is medically determined to be permanently disabled; iv. Management, with the consent of the Director of Administration, determines if/when Transitional Work is no longer available. Work related injuries or illnesses will not result in exhaustion of the Member's sick leave balance prior to being assigned a temporary Transitional Work assignment. In the event that the work-related claim is found to be fraudulent or denied the Member's sick leave balance will be used. In the case of a fraudulent claim further discipline may result.
Transitional Work. – shall mean changes in a job’s tasks, the way a job’s tasks are completed, work schedules, hours of work, or a combination thereof as associated with a short-term or long-term disability claim.
Transitional Work means Services carried out by the Supplier in respect of an Auditor Appointment or otherwise for an Audit Year commencing prior to the Commencement Date in accordance with Clause 17.4 and Schedule 7 and includes such work as is required to enable the Supplier to complete the audit having regard to applicable accounting standards and the Standing Guidance or Supplementary Guidance.
Transitional Work or “transitional duty” means temporary changes in the work environment to permit an employee with temporary limitations to work at tasks that are less physically and/or mentally demanding than his or her regular work during the employee’s recovery from a work‐related injury or illness. Transitional duties may include, without limitation, job restructuring, assistive devices, workstation modification, reduced hours, and/or reassignment. “Transitional work” or “transitional duty” may refer to temporary modified duty or light duty.

Related to Transitional Work

  • Additional Work means services outside the Agreement’s initial scope of Work, which may be added by Thornton. Additional Work may be negotiated separately and must be approved in writing by Thornton in an executed Change Order prior to performance.

  • Transitional Services means services involving technical or specialized knowledge required to complete a project or to provide temporary consulting services to the City.
