Training Captain means a Captain appointed by the Company in writing to perform Training Captain duties.

Training Captain means a line Captain whose name appears on the seniority list, assigned by the Company to give training. Such assignment shall be on a voluntary basis and the pilot shall be completely free to accept or refuse such assignment.

• In the event that there shall be less than three (3) Shift Captains taking any promotional exam for Training Captain, the same shall be open to all permanent employees of the Middletown Fire Department with at least seven and one half (7- 1/2) years service on the Middletown Fire Department as of the date of the written examination.

• The Department will not fill the Fire Training Captain, Fire Instructor, or EMS Instructor position with a non-fire suppression employee, as defined above, until the position is first offered to all qualified line employees.

• This Article does not include the promotion to EMS Training Captain.

• Filling the Training Captain 10 positions shall be on a seniority basis in accordance with Article 28.
