TIST definition

TIST is the International Small Group and Tree Planting Program of which the Small Group is a member and CAAC is the partner that manages the sale of Carbon Credits. TIST is a sustainable development project that relies on tree planting. TIST Uganda is the TIST program in Uganda. Greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide (“CO2”), need to be removed from the air to protect the Earth’s climate. Trees remove CO2 from the air as they grow. The bigger they grow, the more CO2 they remove. Sustainable agricultural practices also remove CO2 from the air and hold it in the soil. The CO2 held in the trees and soil may generate value as Certified Emissions Reductions (“CERs”) and/or Verified Emissions Reductions (“VERs”). In addition, efficient-energy cooking stoves or other efficient energy sources cause a net reduction in the CO2 in the air. These net reductions in the CO2 in the air may also have value as CERs or VERs. Collectively, the potential CERs or VERs are referred to herein as “Carbon Credits”. The TIST Small Group and TIST Program Staff desire to help achieve the national goals of Uganda for the environment, forestry, land use, sustainable agriculture, improved livelihoods, disease reduction (including HIV/AIDS), and sustainable development. In addition, the TIST Small Group and TIST Program Staff seek to help local areas achieve their Millennium Goals. The Small Group and the TIST Program Staff will abide by each and every law and regulation that applies to their activities, and will reasonably cooperate with local, district and national authorities whenever requested or required. At all times each member of the Small Group will exhibit the TIST values of voluntary action; honesty, accuracy, accountability; doing the work; and achieving a low budget. The terms of this Agreement are:
