Time-in-grade definition

Time-in-grade means time spent in a classification.
Time-in-grade eligibility requirement for promotional examinations shall be measured in terms of continuous service. An interruption for an authorized leave of absence without pay shall not constitute a break in continuous service; however, the time of a leave of absence without pay shall not be credited as time in service, and
Time-in-grade means the time that an employee has served in the classification from which the employee is laid-off.

Time-in-grade is defined as the length of time the employee has been continuously employed at a particular rank and shall be used to determine all seniority issues that relate to this Agreement.
