Thermoplastic material definition

Thermoplastic material means a plastic material which is capable of being repeatedly softened by increase of temperature and hardened by decrease of temperature.

  • Thermoplastic material shall be applied to the pavement surface by the extrusion method, wherein the bottom of the extrusion shoe is the pavement and the top and other three sides are contained by, or are part of, suitable equipment for maintaining the temperature and controlling the flow of material.

  • Thermoplastic material will not properly adhere to pavement if moisture is present.

  • Thermoplastic material at 40 mil (1.0 mm) thickness shall be applied by spray at 410°F to 450°F (210°C to 230°C).

  • The color, viscosity, and chemical properties versus temperature characteristics of the Thermoplastic material shall remain constant for up to 4 hours at the application temperature and shall be the same from batch to batch.

  • County Roads shall require Thermoplastic material be used for all pavement markings, including turn lanes, stop bars, crosswalks, and other areas as designated by the County Administrator.

  • Thermoplastic material shall be maintained in the heating kettle and applied to the road surface at a minimum temperature of 400 degrees F.

  • Suitability for Application: Thermoplastic material shall be a product especially compounded for pavement markings.

Related to Thermoplastic material

  • Pyrophoric material means any liquid that ignites spontaneously in dry or moist air at or below 130° F (54.4° C) or solid, other than one classed as an explosive, which under normal conditions is liable to cause fires through friction, retained heat from manufacturing or processing, or which can be ignited readily and, when ignited, burns so vigorously and persistently as to create a serious transportation, handling, or disposal hazard. Included are spontaneously combustible and water-reactive materials.
