Examples of the 1973 Act in a sentence
Subject to paragraph 27.2, ‘earnings’, in the case of employment as a self- employed earner, means the gross income of the employment plus any allowance paid under section 2 of the 1973 Act or section 2 of the Enterprise and New Towns (Scotland) Act 1990 to the applicant for the purpose of assisting him in carrying on his business unless at the date of claim the allowance has been terminated.
The CMA appears to accept, by its reference to this judgment, that the interpretation of the word “substantial” should be given the same meaning under the Enterprise Act 2002 as under the 1973 Act, which is consistent with the CAT’s findings in the Global Radio judgment.
Right to official counsel According to the 1983 Act, as applicable in conjunction with the 1973 Act, an accused who is not already assisted or represented by counsel in military court proceedings shall have the right to have an official counsel appointed in order to assist him, provided that he would otherwise be unable properly to assert his rights.
Cost-free trial According to the 1973 Act, among others an accused may be granted a cost-free trial, if he or she cannot without difficulties meet all costs incurred in the criminal proceedings (section 1, subsection 1).
As the enactment of the 1973 Act was followed by a period of direct government intervention in wage fixation, the Arbitration Commission never really became operational.
