THC-A definition

THC-A means tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, a precursor to THC.

Examples of THC-A in a sentence

  • The City will test for alcohol, 6-acetylmorphine, amphetamine/methamphetamine, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine metabolite (benzoylecgonine), codeine/morphine, hydrocodone/hydromorphone, marijuana metabolites (THCA), MDMA/MDA, methadone, oxycodone/oxymorphone, phencyclidine, in accordance with Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) guidelines.

  • A specimen may be tested for alcohol, marijuana (THCA), opioids, cocaine, phencyclidines (PCP) and amphetamines, or the by-products of these substances.

  • When using an alternate technology initial test for the specific target analytes of THCA and Benzoylecgonine, the laboratory must use the same cutoff for the initial and confirmatory tests (i.e., 15 ng/mL for THCA and 100ng/mL for Benzoylecgonine).

  • The confirmatory test cutoff must be used for analternate technology initial test that is specific for the target analyte (i.e., 15 ng/ml for THCA, 100 ng/ ml for benzoylecgonine).

  • The testing methodology must consider the potential conversion of delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA) in hemp into delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and the test result reflect the total available THC derived from the sum of the THC and THCA content.

  • The method must be sensitive enough to be able to report delta-9 THC and THCA at a minimum of 0.30%.

  • A positive test for THCA that is consistent with a validly issued THCA prescription will not be considered a positive test by the City; however, the City maintains the right to determine fitness for duty.
