Temporarily restricted fund definition

Temporarily restricted fund means the donor has restricted the funds in some temporal manner. Thus, an endowment fund may be designed to last for a set number of years, and then released to become an unrestricted fund. In other provisions, the donor may allow interest, gain and principal to be appropriated, or amortized, over time until the fund is fully expended. A third usage of temporary restriction is to restrict not only the fund to endowment, but also its distribution to a specific use or program.
