The following devices are considered to be deadly weapons for purposes of this rule: ▪ a weapon, Taser or electronic stun weapon, equipment, chemical substance, or other material that in the manner it is used, or could ordinarily be used, or is intended to be used, is readily capable of causing serious bodily injury.
Taser Shockwave, microwave weapons, water cannons, and the Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD).

A dangerous device includes but is not limited to fireworks, handgun, rifle, shotgun, stun gun, paintball gun, Taser, knife, mace, pepper spray, BB or pellet gun, explosive, and all other weapons and personal protection devices capable of causing injury or discomfort to a person.
A GRCS-DD safety officer must not carry any form of a weapon (such as a gun, any form of a “Billy club”, baton”, hand cuffs, Taser gun).
Possession of explosives, firearms, knives, tear gas projector or bomb, Taser or similar device, hazardous materials or any object containing noxious liquid gas such as pepper gas or any substance or other dangerous weapons or instruments, as well as look-a-like weapons or instruments shall be prohibited on school buses, in school buildings, on school grounds, and at all school functions.
Force options in this level include: discharge of an OC device; discharge of a Taser; impact weapon strikes to any part of the body other than the head or neck; use of impact munitions; any physical apprehension by a canine; any reportable use of force against a handcuffed subject; and any leg sweep, weaponless defense technique, or takedown resulting in an injury or complaint of injury.
CPD will require officers to consider the totality of the circumstances, including a subject’s apparent age, size, and the threat presented, in assessing the reasonableness and necessity of using a Taser in a school.
