Talib definition

Talib means “student” in Pashto; “taliban” is its plural form. Today the term “Taliban” refers usually to the fundamentalist movement that ruled Afghanistan from 1996 until its overthrow by forces of the Northern Alliance and NATO in 2001. Many members of the Taliban fled to the mountains in the Waziristan province of north-western Pakistan.
