Sustainable and equitable development definition

Sustainable and equitable development means a development project that reduces disparities in urban, suburban, and rural communities and reduces vehicle miles traveled by supporting residents, specifically those that have been historically underserved and neglected, by providing for a range of affordable housing and transportation options, efficient access to a variety of jobs and services, and clean air quality. Sustainable and equitable developments are diverse and incorporate community input, values of inclusion, equal access to housing, opportunity, and diversity in our communities ensuring that all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, family status, or disability, have a range of choices for where to live now and in the future.
