stratified. - means that remediation of the surface soil is done according to the soil quality criteria specified for surface soil and of the subsurface soil to the soil quality criteria specified for subsurface soil (greater than 1.5 metre depth). Quality criteria for subsurface soil are less stringent than for surface soil.
