Step voltage definition

Step voltage means the potential difference between two points on the earth’s surface, separated by distance of one pace, that will be assumed to be one metre in the direction of maximum potential gradient, without touching any grounded object;

Examples of Step voltage in a sentence

  • Step voltage changes will also occur whenever a loaded generator is suddenly disconnected from the network due to faults or other occurrences.

  • Step voltage changes caused by the connection and disconnection of the Facility shall not exceed +/- 3% for infrequent planned switching events or outages and +/-6% of the nominal voltage of 22kV for unplanned outages such as faults.
