Standby Fire definition

Standby Fire means a service connection of two-inch size and larger being utilized for the sole purpose of extinguishing a fire. Such service requires that the customer make provisions to ensure the prevention of water flowing through a standby meter be used for anything other than fire extinguishing. Sealed fire sprinkler systems with water-operated alarms shall be considered as having such provisions. Such standby fire service is exempt from Wastewater charges

Examples of Standby Fire in a sentence

  • For purposes of determining hours eligible for overtime payment under the Fair Labor Standards Act defined in Article II.E.2. Standby Fire Officer over time shall not count as hours on-duty toward the 204 hours in a 27-day "FLSA cycle" or 53 hours in a seven day "FLSA cycle".

  • IIE.9.a. Employees voluntarily hired back while off-duty as Standby Fire Safety Officers shall be paid at one and one-half (1½) times the regular rate of pay at the 40-hour rate.

  • Employees hired as Standby Fire Safety Officers shall be paid a minimum of four (4) hours of pay.

  • The City of Burbank (“City”) and the Burbank Management Association (“BMA”) agree to allow the Fire Chief, in accordance with the State Fire Marshal’s Guidelines, to designate miscellaneous fire personnel as Standby Fire Safety Officers.

  • The procedures for Standby Fire Safety Officer hiring are contained within the Burbank Fire Department Policy Manual Article IV (Operations and Procedures), Division 4.11, Section 4.1101 (Standby Safety Officer Calling Procedure) and are applicable to all BMA employees when assigned and working as a FSO.

  • Standby Fire Safety Officer hours worked shall not be banked as time off in-lieu of compensation, except when hired in accordance with Article II, H.

  • Miscellaneous fire personnel designated as Standby Fire Safety Officers must meet the minimum qualifications as established by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
