Standby allowance definition

Standby allowance means the agreed upon, non-pensionable amount to be paid to staff members who were expected to be on standby outside of the normal working hours (i.e. any hours of work, except night work, as defined in the employee’s contract of employment).

Examples of Standby allowance in a sentence

  • Standby allowance will be paid only to employees officially designated for such duty.

  • Standby allowance shall not be paid during any time during which an employee is actually called back to work.

  • The Standby allowance per shift will not remain payable when an employee is called in to work.

  • Standby allowance shall be suspended upon callback and the provisions of Section 4.2 of this Article shall prevail.

  • Standby allowance will only be paid to employees officially designated by Management for such duty.

  • Standby allowance shall not be paid for actual time worked on a callback.

  • Standby allowance shall not be paid during any time during which an employee is actually called back to work and being paid.

  • Where the emergency conditions dictate, the stand-by may be extended past 6.00pm and paid according to the rate specified in clause 23.3 (Stand-by allowance) of this Appendix.

  • Standby allowance for rostered call-outs - Any employee listed on the call-out roster and is required to be on standby as per the call-out roster to work outside their ordinary hours will receive an amount equal to 10 per cent of the employee’s hourly rate for each hour that the employee is required to be on standby.

  • Standby allowance will only be paid where colleagues are asked to cover the ambulance activity on a standby basis i.e. are not scheduled to be working.
