Stacking n staging definition

Stacking n staging are terms used when we block cars in that we have keys for/control of. Additional space can be made only when you are valeting vehicles by blocking 1 row of vehicles on. You can still drive through a parking lot when a row is blocked in. It is much more efficient to move a stacked or staged vehicle in a close parking lot that it is to run to a secondary lot that is much farther away. And we would not be blocking driveways. A parking station alone will limit us to only 18 spaces and voids the higher level of service ofValet Parking” that people like and need specifically in this area. A valet parking operation in this area and on 3rd street will increase the amount of parking spaces , ie. more customers. It’s a win win with a net gain of spaces and an increased level of customer service that will bring back those who were already frustrated with parking and are staying away. Last point...As you may know, I have been consistently providing valet parking for over 20 years in the city of Royal Oak. Currently I have a few other operations in the city and I’ve been able to make them all run smoothly. I’m not about to take on a operation that is going to disrupt all the apple carts. I’ll make it run the right way! It’s unfortunate that you won’t be at today’s DDA meeting. I not sure I understand your “staking and staging” comments as driveways can’t be block with parked vehicles. As I indicated in our phone conversation it might be simpler to apply for and operate a “parking station” on private property. I will let you know the DDA’s recommendation to the city commission. The next potential city commission meeting is July 9th.
