Span value definition

Span value means the calibrated portion of the measurement range as specified in the applicable regulation or other requirement. If the span is not specified in the applicable regulation or other requirement, then it shall be a value approximately equivalent to two times the emission standard. For span values less than 500 parts per million (ppm), the span value may either be rounded upward to the next highest multiple of 10 ppm, or to the next highest multiple of 100 ppm such that the equivalent emission concentration is not less than 30% of the selected span value.
Span value means for most incinerators, a 50 parts per million (ppm) propane span. Higher span values may be necessary if propane emissions are significant. For convenience, the span value should correspond to 100 percent of the recorder scale.
Span value means the upper limit of the intended mercury concentration measurement range. The span value is a value equal to 2 times the emission standard.
