Sleepover Shift definition

Sleepover Shift means a continuous period during which an employee is required to sleepover at the workplace and be available to deal with any urgent situation which may arise during the sleepover period. The Company shall take reasonable steps to enable the employee to sleep on the premises, including the provision of a secure room with privacy, a bed and emergency communication facilities. In addition the employee shall have access to other facilities within the house or workplace for the purpose of personal hygiene and the taking of meals. These provisions shall be provided free of charge to the employee. The “Sleepover Shift” shall commence at the conclusion of the employees rostered ordinary hours work shift and will cease at the commencement of the employees or another employees rostered ordinary hours work shift the following day. An employee will be required during the Sleepover period to be available to deal with any urgent situation which cannot be dealt with by another employee or be dealt with at the completion of the sleepover period. In this situation the employee shall not be entitled to any penalty provisions or additional benefits other then the benefits provided for in this agreement. Employees will take an unpaid, meal break of not less than one half hour, no less than three (3) hours and no greater than five (5) hours from the commencement of the employees ordinary hours work each day and every five (5) hours thereafter.
