Siyag” definition

Siyag”. (Seiaj in Arabic), which means a territory limited by a fence, where some seven other tribes were already living. Bedouin in the Siyag were placed under military rule, as was the entire Arab population that remained in the newly-formed Israeli state, until 1966. During this time, Bedouin movement, employment, land use and other aspects of life were controlled by the Israeli Military Governor, and the Bedouin were confined to the Siyag unless permitted to leave it by the Military Governor.
