Silage definition

Silage means fermented, high-moisture fodder that can be fed to ruminants, such as cattle and sheep; usually made from grass crops including corn, sorghum or other cereals, by using the entire green plant.
Silage means an Insurable Crop seeded as an annual crop that is, prior to grain maturity, cut, fermented and stored as livestock feed.
Silage means any forage crop which is being, or has been, conserved by fermentation or preservation (including the use of additives), or both, and which is intended for consumption by livestock;

  • The Insured must elect the number of acres they intend to insure as Silage, Greenfeed, or swath grazing by April 30 and will be billed within plus or minus 10 percent of the Elected Acres whether the acres are seeded or not.
