Significantly affect definition

Significantly affect means something that has a noticeable impact on an individual and can significantly affect their circumstances, behaviour or choices. This might include something that affects a person’s financial status, health, reputation, access to services or other economic or social opportunities.
Significantly affect means the termination of employment, the elimination or diminution of job opportunities, promotional opportunities, job tenure or the use of skills, the alteration of work, the need for retraining or transfer of employees to other work or locations, the loss or reduction of working hours or income of employees, as a result of workplace change.
Significantly affect means Members must take into account effects on imports or exports with respect to “value or importance of imports’, “potential growth of such imports”, and “difficulties for producers in other Members to comply” (WTO, n.d.c, p.20). This definition is a blanket definition that allows for broad application. In addition, it does not require significant proof, but only the possibility of effect.
