Sign variance definition

Sign variance means a nonuse variance granted to provide relief from a specific standard of this chapter which relates to an area, dimension, or construction requirement.
Sign variance means a minor change to this By-law for a specific Sign Permit application.
Sign variance means a modification of the regulations of this chapter authorized by the Director of Construction and Land Use where, owing to special circumstances and conditions pertaining to a sign, a less literal interpretation or strict application of the provisions and require- ments of this chapter would be justifiable under certain criteria established by this chapter.

  • Variance means a grant of relief from the requirements of this chapter which permits construction in a manner that would otherwise be prohibited by this chapter.

  • Permitted Variance shall have the meaning set forth in Section 6.20.

  • Waiver or variance means action by the board which suspends in whole or in part the requirements or provisions of a rule as applied to an identified person on the basis of the particular circumstances of that person. For simplicity, the term “waiver” shall include both a “waiver” and a “variance.”

  • Variance Report shall have the meaning assigned to such term in Section 5.01(g).

  • Sign face means the surface of a sign including the border or frame together with any material forming an integral part of the background used to differentiate the sign from the backdrop or building on which it is erected. Where a sign is composed of individually installed letters, numerals or shapes, the sign face shall mean the area of the smallest polygon containing a maximum of eight (8) right angle sides that enclose all of the letters, numerals or shapes; (0438-2003, 0203-2017)
