Short Procedure Unit — A unit of a hospital organized for the delivery of ambulatory surgical, diagnostic or medical services.
Managed care organizations must comply with and require their network ambulatory surgical center and hospital short procedure unit providers to comply with the provisions of 55 Pa.Code Chapter 1126, Ambulatory Surgical Center and Hospital Short Procedure Unit Services, with the following exceptions: 1126.51(f) through (h) and (k) through (m) Payment for Same Day Surgical Services.
Resource will conduct prospective, concurrent and retrospective review of any assigned adult or pediatric inpatient and outpatient medical cases covered by the Department including, but not limited to: inpatient admissions; procedures performed in a physician’s office, Short Procedure Unit or Ambulatory Surgical Center; home health services; medical supplies; and/or diagnostic studies or procedures.
