Shoddy definition

Shoddy means any material which has been spun into yarn, knit or woven into fabric and subsequently cut up, torn up, broken or ground up.
Shoddy element is by no means confined to those who make fortunes rapidly, or by speculations. There are many who rise very slowly in the world, and who when blessed with fortune throw themselves headlong into the arms of "Shoddy."
