  • A SONET Severely Errored Second ("SSES") is any one-second interval in which 2400 or more STS Path BIP errors were detected, AIS-P, LOP-P, or lower level, traffic related near end defect is detected in accordance with Telecordia Technologies Generic Criteria GR-253-CORE, Section 6.2.2.5.1.
