Senior Firefighter definition

Senior Firefighter means an employee who is currently appointed to this classification.
Senior Firefighter means a member who has held the Classification/Rank of First Class Firefighter for a minimum of six (6) years.
Senior Firefighter is an Employee who has held the rank of First Class Firefighter for a minimum of eight (8) consecutive years.

  • The Senior Firefighter Program is applicable to all employees in the classifications of Firefighter, Fire Engineer, Fire Engineer / Paramedic, Firefighter / Paramedic, Firefighter / Paramedic Trainee, Firefighter Apprentice, and Fire Captain.

  • In the absence of a Senior Firefighter, a Firefighter so involved will be paid higher duties at the Senior Firefighter rate together with a training allowance.

  • Where a First Class Firefighter, Senior Firefighter or Leading Firefighter is required to instruct training, they will be paid higher duties for the time spent preparing, administering and delivering the training at the rate of Station Officer 1 pay point 1 (SO1 PP1).

  • Any Senior Firefighter seeking promotion to the rank of Station Officer shall complete the career Station Officer Programme.

  • Senior Firefighter class is reached after 8 years of completed service.

  • Firefighter Level I and Senior Firefighter Level II classification commence at the beginning of the employee’s tenth (10th), twentieth (20th) and twenty•fifth (25th) years of continuous service in the bargaining unit respectively.

  • Supervision of a shift will be provided by the use of management personnel (e.g., other shift commander) or a certified Senior Firefighter as determined by the Fire Chief.
