Satan definition

Satan means "adversary" or "enemy", and "Devil" means "slanderer". Instead of making God first in his affections, Lucifer centred them on himself. Pride led him to want God's position, and thus Lucifer, "the Morning Star," became Satan, "the adversary."

Satan means “opponent” or “adversary.” He opposes the truth, and everything that is of God or belongs to God. He fights against it, against Israel, against the Church, against individual Christians, against the Bible. The adversary fights against the prophetic Word, to make us lose sight of it. We protect ourselves by letting the Holy Spirit reign.

Satan means adversary. God created the angel who became Satan (i.e. the Adversary), but God created this angel (and everything else) good (Genesis 1:31). The fall of Satan may be described in Ezekiel 28:11-19. If so, note that before his fall he was created perfect and blameless (vv. 12, 15).
