Salary and Wage Plan Clause Samples
The Salary and Wage Plan clause defines how employee compensation is structured and managed within an organization or under a contract. Salary and Wage Plan. Step 1: The first step is the minimum rate and should normally be the hiring rate for the class. In cases where it is difficult to locate qualified personnel, or if a person of unusual qualifications is employed, the City Manager may authorize hiring at a higher step.
Step 2: Employees are eligible for this Step after the completion of the equivalent of six (6) months of satisfactory service based on their regular work schedule in Step 1.
Salary and Wage Plan. The Salary Plan shall be amended to reflect a 2.5% increase effective January 1, 2020, and a 2.5% increase effective January 1, 2021 for all such classifications. The salaries effective January 1, 2020, and for the remaining term of this Memorandum of Understanding for the various classifications in the representation unit are listed on Attachment A, which is hereby incorporated in and made a part of this Memorandum of Understanding.

A department manager or other management or supervisory employee shall not make any salary commitment to an applicant in excess of the first step without first submitting written justification to and receiving written approval from the City Manager in advance of any such salary offer.
Step 2: Employees are eligible for this adjustment after the completion of the equivalent of six (6) months of satisfactory service, based on their regular work schedule, on a probationary appointment. Normally, an employee whose work does not justify an advancement to the second step should be released.
