Rural population definition

Rural population means the count, taken from the most recently certified decennial federal census, of persons who reside in the unincorporated areas of a county.
Rural population means the total population of all of the counties in a district as reported in the latest decennial federal census less the population in cities over 5,000 persons and their unincorporated fringe urban areas as determined by the department, using the latest decennial federal census.
Rural population. (Census) means the rural population of Iowa comprised of all persons living within an incorporated place that has a population of 2,499 or less, or on farms.
