Royal Prerogatives definition
Royal Prerogatives is a means by which certain powers of the executive power shall be exercised by the Government. Established by Magna Carta, this means was originally practiced only by the monarch, without consulting the Parliament. After accession to the throne of the House of Hanover (predecessor of Stuart dynasty), “the royal prerogative” was practiced with the advice of the Prime Minister or the Cabinet, themselves being accountable to the Parliament.
