Ricochet definition

Ricochet means a shot which has obviously hit the ground or an object in front of the target and then rebounds and hits the target, indicated by the throwing of earth against the target or into the target trenches and then only after confirmation by a butts officer if there is one. An elongated hole is not in itself evidence of a ricochet.
