Res Communis definition

Res Communis means “a common thing” or in Louisiana civil law nomenclature see La. Civil Code Article 449: “Common things may not be owned by anyone. They are such as the air and the high seas that may be freely used by everyone.” “Res nulius” is derived from private law whereby an object can be owned by possession but is currently ownerless.
