Relief staff definition

Relief staff means the replacement of direct care staff when the regular direct care staff are on leave and there is a cost component in the direct care hourly rate that covers the cost of relief staff.
Relief staff means staff employed on a temporary basis to provide relief in a position until the return from authorised leave of the substantive occupant or in a vacant position until it is filled substantively.
Relief staff means persons employed by the Employer to replace Employees during a short-term absence such as but not limited to vacation or sick leave. Relief staff are provided with short notice of their assignment and may elect to work based on their availability. Relief staff are paid on an hourly basis.

Relief staff shall be any person who is hired to relieve the regular full-time or part-time staff on their day's off and when absent from duty due to, for example, sickness, statutory holidays, annual vacation or leave of absence without pay.
Relief staff means any employee hired on an as needed basis to provide coverage when regular full time or part time employees are not working their regularly scheduled shift due to vacation, illness, paid holiday(s) or any other requested or required absence. Relief staff will not be scheduled to appear on the posted master schedule unless all part time employees have been assigned available relief shifts (up to a maximum of 35 hours per week) or have been offered and refused (or are otherwise unavailable) available relief shifts on the master schedule. Any relief shift hours worked by a part time employee shall not be used in determining an employee’s part time status. Staff will be deemed to have resigned if they have refused to work any shift for 2 months. When a supervisor or designate determines that coverage is needed in the Distress Centre due to non availability of volunteers, relief staff shall be assigned four(4) hours of work at their normal rate of pay to act as coverage.
