Relief Master, definition

Relief Master, or “Staff Master” is a Deck Officer and Pilot of the highest classification and one who possesses a minimum license qualification of an Inland Master and First Class Pilot of vessels of any gross tons, and is otherwise qualified under this Agreement to appear on the Master’s Seniority Roster. A Master is the ultimate authority onboard all WSF vessels as defined in RCW 47.64.340.

Examples of Relief Master, in a sentence

  • If a Relief Master declines the work no penalty shall be imposed.

  • Masters assigned as a Relief Master for the season, whether it is a permanent or temporary assignment, shall fill out a Free Day Bid Form and return it to the Bid Administrator.

  • WSF shall have the right to fill all vacant Master and Relief Master positions by assigning in inverse seniority order from the Masters bidding list.

  • A Permanent or Relief Master may waive a permanent Master’s position and bid on a permanent Mate’s position provided they meet all Mate qualifications.

  • Relief Masters accepting such assignments will be paid at the Relief Master rate of pay.

  • The terms and conditions of this Agreement will apply to any WSF Mate with a Masters license when working as a Staff Master, Master or Relief Master regardless of the length of time.

  • This Rule shall be used for filling Regular Relief Master positions.

  • Compensatory time off may be used when a Relief Master is available for coverage.

  • In the event a Master or Relief Master is discharged for medical reasons, the issue as to whether the Master or Relief Master is fit-for-duty or not shall be submitted to a mutually agreed-upon doctor.

  • This paragraph shall also apply in the case of a refusal by the Company to employ a Master or Relief Master duly assigned in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement.
