Recruits must use the accrued FLSA compensatory leave credits before using regular annual leave.
With the exception of Fire Fighter certification pay, Fire Recruits shall not be eligible to receive Certification Pay until they have completed Drill School and have received their step up to Fire Fighter Probationary (FF-PR).
Recruits, including lateral transfers, attending the Pre-Academy, DPSST Basic, Advanced Academy and/or Police Career Officer Development schools shall be compensated at the appropriate monthly salary for the classification as set forth in this Agreement.
Members hired as Cadet Recruits are excluded from this provision.
Recruits assigned to Pre-Academy, DPSST Basic, Advanced Academy or Police Career Officer Development schools may be scheduled to work irregular shifts or hours without the Employer incurring overtime or penalty payment liability.
Recruits are authorized travel time for one (1) round trip to the training site from their worksite in an on-duty status for each of the following trainings: Pre-Academy, DPSST Basic, Advanced Academy, Police Career Officer Development and Regional or Basic schools.
Recruits who work in excess of forty (40) hours in a week will be compensated in the form of overtime pay.
Recruits who report to their assigned worksite before or in between schools or upon completion of Advanced Academy may be assigned to work irregular shifts or hours without any penalty payment or liability.
Recruits from time to time may be assigned to non-F.T.O.'s for not more than one (1) day in any work week.
Recruits shall not be entitled to any other part of this agreement and shall become third class firefighters only upon successful completion of the training school.
