Recognized authority’ means: for the EU, an equivalent authority; and for the United States, a capable authority.
3. ‘Capable authority’ means an authority that the Food and Drug Administra- tion (FDA) FDA has determined is capable according to the criteria and procedures specified in Appendix 4 and referred to in the U.S. laws, regu- lations and administrative provisions listed in Appendix 1.
