Readout means a parameter, or parameters, that are measured and/or detected and that can be ex- pressed as a number, a value or other indicia for evalu- ation. In some contexts, readout may refer to an actual numerical representation of such collected or recorded data. For example, a readout of fluorescent intensity sig- nals from a microarray is the position and fluorescence intensity of a signal being generated at each hybridization site of the microarray; thus, such a readout may be reg- istered or stored in various ways, for example, as an im- age of the microarray, as a table of numbers, or the like.
