Rathole definition

Rathole means a hole in the drilling rig floor that is lined with casing into which the kelly is temporarily placed.
Rathole or "mousehole" means the temporary storage space that is used to store the kelly or drill pipe while adding a new section of pipe to the drill string at some rotary drilling rigs.
Rathole means the service hole drilled at a slight angle and normally about 40 feet deep on those wells drilled by rotary tools.
