Quarry dewatering definition

Quarry dewatering or “mine dewatering” means any water that is impounded or collects in a quarry, and is pumped, drained, or otherwise removed from the pit by the efforts of the operator. However, if process water is discharged into a quarry or mine, discharges of commingled water from the quarry or mine shall be deemed discharges of process water. Quarry or mine dewatering includes wet pit overflows caused solely by direct rainfall and ground water seepage.
