Putative parent definition

Putative parent means a person who claims to be or is identified as a possible parent but whose parentage has not been established.
Putative parent means a person who is alleged or reputed to be a parent of a child but their parentage has not been legally established.
Putative parent means any person who is not recognized to be the child’s legal parent under the laws of the state of New York but who (i) has filed with a putative father registry, or (ii) has a pending paternity petition, or (iii) was married to the child’s parent within six months after the child’s birth, or (iv) has been identified by the child’s parent in a written sworn statement. A putative parent has a right to notice of the proceeding under section one thousand seventeen of this article but does not have the rights of a legal parent.
