Prolonged absence definition

Prolonged absence refers to an extended absence on a shift created by an employee(s) taking sick leave, military leave, Family Medical Leave, leave for an industrial injury, unpaid leave of absence or on a medically directed shift exemption.
Prolonged absence means being off the job for more than one consecutive work week or the equivalent number of consecutive work hours.
Prolonged absence means an employee’s absence from duty for at least 10 consecutive workdays.

Examples of Prolonged absence in a sentence

  • Prolonged absence will be reviewed by the Superintendent to determine whether or not it will be possible for the staff member to return to work within a reasonable period.

Prolonged absence in this policy, means an illness or injury lasting four (4) workdays or longer.
