Project Based Position definition

Project Based Position means a position, regardless of funding source, of limited duration not to exceed three years to be utilized to complete a project or for an external grant funded position whose funding is uncertain as to amount or duration. An employee receiving an initial appointment to such “Project Based Position” may be terminated no later than upon completion of the project or the duration of the external grant funding but in any case no longer than three years from the date of the original appointment. An employee receiving an initial appointment to a Project Based Position shall be fully benefited. In the event of a layoff under Section 44, employees holding “Project Based Positions” will be terminated without right of recall prior to the layoff of any career employee, provided that a qualified career employee is available to fill the position. An employee holding a “Project Based Position” shall not be covered by the provisions of Section 44 (Layoff) and may be terminated for cause at any time by the City Manager. Examples of Project Based Position in a sentence
