School/Setting Lead/ Professional Mentor (PM) A member of staff who has been identified as the main point of contact for the University, and co-ordinates ITE They will work with Edge Hill University to ensure the training provided is of high quality and is consistent between all their mentors.
In the event that a Professional Mentor or Placements Co-ordinator is not required by the University, these duties under this Agreement shall be discharged by the relevant Mentor or School Based Tutor.
If required by the University, the Provider shall appoint a project manager (referred to as either a Professional Mentor (Secondary Partnerships) or a Placements Co-Ordinator (Primary partnerships and PCET partnerships) to act on the Provider’s behalf in respect of all matters relating to this Agreement.
Quality is assured by a team of School Liaison Officers who make systematic and personal connections with the Professional Mentor in our partnership schools and colleges, ensuring that colleagues in placement and in the university are well-informed and contributing to effective training processes for all trainees.
In this role they will be supported by the Professional Mentor and the University Liaison Tutor with whom they should liaise over ITT related matters.
Each placement school arranges Educational and Professional Studies sessions within the school or college for all the trainees – usually this is the responsibility of the Professional Mentor.

THE PROFESSIONAL MENTOR It is understood that the Professional Mentor will undertake to disseminate all communications from the University to the appropriate personnel within the placement institution.
