Prevalent Language definition

Prevalent Language means a non-English language determined to be spoken by a significantnumber or percentage of Potential Enrollees and Members that have Limited English Proficiency. [42 C.F.R. § 438.10]
Prevalent Language has the meaning assigned to it in 42 C.F.R. § 438.10, and means a non-English language determined to be spoken by a significant number or percentage of potential Members and Members that are Limited English Proficient. For the purposes of the Contract, ten percent of the population in a Service Area speaks the non-English language.
Prevalent Language has the meaning assigned to “prevalent” in 42 C.F.R. § 438.10(a) or means a non-English language determined to be spoken by a significant number or percentage of potential Members and Members that are Limited English Proficient. For the purposes of the Contract, the terms “significant number or percentage” will mean ten percent (10%) of the population in the SA speaks the non-English language.

Examples of Prevalent Language in a sentence

  • The Contractor shall provide Enrollee Information to Enrollees and, upon request, to Members, including all the items detailed in Section 2.5.C. The Contractor shall make available written translations of Enrollee Information in Prevalent Languages and inform Enrollees how to obtain translated Enrollee Information or how to obtain an oral translation in a language other than a Prevalent Language.

  • The Contractor shall ensure that non‑English speaking Enrollees have a choice of at least two (2) PCPs, and at least two (2) Behavioral Health Providers within each behavioral health covered service category, in the Prevalent Language in the Service Area provided that such provider capacity exists throughout the Service Area.

  • Contractor must provide a mechanism for Enrollees who are blind or deaf and hard of hearing or who speak a Prevalent Language as described above to obtain member materials and a mechanism for Enrollees to obtain assistance with interpretation.

  • Prevalent Languages — Those languges that meet the more stringent of either (1) Medicare’s five (5) percent threshold for language translation; or (2) MDHHS’ Prevalent Language requirements.

  • Ensure that non-English speaking Enrollees have a choice of at least two PCPs, and at least two Behavioral Health Providers within each behavioral health covered service category, in the Prevalent Language in the region provided that such provider capacity exists within the region.

  • Member handbooks must be available in a Prevalent Language when more than 5% of the Contractor's Enrollees speak a Prevalent Language, as defined by MDHHS policy.

  • Contractor must make oral interpretation services available to all Enrollees free of charge; applicable to all non-English languages, not just those languages that meet the definition of Prevalent Language under this Contract.
