Pottsburg Sand definition
Pottsburg Sand. This poorly drained soil is on nearly level, low-lying areas of the flatwoods. The natural vegetation consists of sweetbay, buckwheattree, blackgum, water oak, scattered slash and longleaf pine, inkberry, gallberry, saw palmetto, wax myrtle, and pineland threeawn. The soil unit has a water table within a depth of 10 inches for 4 to 6 months during most years. Some low-lying inclusions are ponded for 2 to 6 months annually. The NRCS Ecological Community typical for this soil type is north Florida flatwoods.
