Permanence should be an overriding characteristic in the choice of exterior materials.
The University Librarian shall solicit reports from the chosen referees for candidates seeking promotion to Librarian III and Librarian IV and submit such reports directly to the Library Promotion and Permanence Committee.
The Library Council, meeting in camera without the candidate, members of the Library Promotion and Permanence Committee and the University Librarian, shall consider the application for permanence or promotion.
Permanence shall be considered in the course of third (3rd) year of employment.
Performance review criteria must be consistent with the Agreement, in particular Articles 12 (Rights and Responsibilities of Members), 22 (Permanence and Promotion for Professional Librarians), and 25 (Workload for Professional Librarian Members).
A copy of the summaries of the AAU Renewal, Promotion and Tenure or Permanence Committee meetings as described in the Senate Bylaws shall be placed in the member's file in ample time for the member to consider the documentation prior to her/his presentation to UCAPT/UCRPPLM.
Permanence is defined pursuant to the practice of the District (see attachment list of job classes).
In the event that a Renewal, Promotion and Permanence Committee recommends a librarian member who is in the last year of her/his probationary service for permanence but that recommendation is not accepted by UCRPPLM, the member shall be offered a one (1) year, non-renewable full-time, limited term appointment or, if agreed to by both the member and the President after consultation with the University Librarian, six (6) months' salary on the termination of her/his probationary appointment.
If the recommendation appears problematic, the University Librarian may consult with the Library Promotion and Permanence Committee to resolve any concerns.
