Patterned absenteeism definition

Patterned absenteeism means any absences for which a pattern exists. Examples include, but are not limited to, ab- sences that are adjacent to weekends or holidays; or sched- uled days off or absences that occur at the same time each year.

  • Patterned absenteeism, by way of illustration and not to limit examples, is considered to be: (1) Repetitive occurrences of absenteeism occurring in a given pattern such as days before/days after scheduled days off; (2) Friday/Monday occurrences; (3) Cyclical absences identified as weekly, monthly, semiannual, or annual occurrences (i.e. lengthy absences in winter months or summer which suggest lengthening of preferable absence periods/months); or (4) Repetitive same day of the week absences.
