Paramedical Practitioners definition

Paramedical Practitioners means providers currently licensed or certified to practise their profession by the appropriate licensing or registration authority of the jurisdiction in which the services of such practitioners are rendered, and who are not insured for benefits under this Policy. If no such licensing or registration authority exists in any jurisdiction, each such practitioner practising in such jurisdiction must have a certificate of competency from the professional body which establishes standards of competency for such practitioner's profession and is deemed valid by the Company. A Social Worker is required to hold a Master of Social Work degree. In no event will benefits provided under the terms of this Provision be paid for services rendered by any practitioner which are not within the scope of such practitioner's profession.

The Clinical Psychologist paramedical service shall include services of a licensed clinical psychologist, registered clinical counsellor, Canadian certified counsellor, psychotherapist, registered clinical therapist, registered therapeutic counsellor, registered professional counsellor or any other certified mental health practitioner, belonging to an accredited association that has been approved by Empire Life.   • The following services respect the Reasonable and Customary costs for the province: Licensed Paramedical Practitioners: 100% coverage to a $750 annual maximum of each licensed practitioner to include acupuncturist, audiologist, chiropractor (include x-rays), dietician, massage therapist/orthotherapist, naturopath, occupational therapist, osteopath (includes x-rays), physiotherapist/physical rehabilitation therapist, podiatrist/chiropodist (includes x-rays) and speech therapist.

  • Maximum of one x- ray examination for Paramedical Practitioners per benefit year.

  • Paramedical Practitioners (registered chiropractor, osteopath, chiropodist or podiatrist): Maximum is increased to per practitioner per individual per calendar year.

  • The following Paramedical Practitioners are eligible for 80% reimbursement to a maximum of $300.00 per year per practitioner: • Acupuncturist • Audiologist • Chiropodist, Pedorthist, or Podiatrist • Chiropractor • Dietician • Massage Therapist • Naturopath • Osteopath • Physiotherapist, Athletic Therapist, or Occupational Therapist • Psychologist, Social Worker, or Family Counsellor • Speech Therapist The Plan itself should be checked for eligibility and details.

  • The listed Paramedical Practitioners are restored and leveled to a maximum of five hundred dollars ($500.00) per year, per insured person, for each category of Practitioner.

  • Appointments with Paramedical Practitioners including Physiotherapist, Massage Therapist, Naturopath and Chiropractor shall be arranged outside of regular working hours.
