Packaging Foam. Any open or closed cell, solidified, polymeric foam used for cushioning or packaging, including: Ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam, Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) foam, Polychloroprene foam (Neoprene), Polypropylene (PP) foam, Polystyrene (PS) foam (including EPS, extruded polystyrene foam (XPS) and polystyrene paper (PSP)), Polyurethane (PU) foams, Polyethylene foams, Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) foam, and Microcellular foam. Not included are easily biodegradable, plant-based foams such as those derived from corn or mushrooms.

Plant-Based Foods: As defined by the Culinary Institute of America’s Menus of Change program, these include fruits and vegetables (produce); whole grains; beans; other legumes (pulses), and soy foods; nuts and seeds; plant oils; herbs and spices; simple combinations of these foods and their derivatives, and vegetarian/vegan alternatives to meat and dairy. Plant-Forward: As defined by the Culinary Institute of America’s Menus of Change program, this represents a style of cooking and eating that emphasizes and celebrates, but is not limited to, plant-based foods—including fruits and vegetables (produce); whole grains; beans, other legumes (pulses), and soy foods; nuts and seeds; plant oils; and herbs and spices—and that reflects evidence-based principles of health and sustainability.
